BFF SAL 16 - a Long Hard Stare

No work carried out on my stitch this week.  I did pick it up to contemplate it, gave the pattern a Long Hard Stare as Paddington Bear would say, and put it down again.

Lots to do this week,  more about that in my next blog post.

BFF SAL 16 - a Squash and a Squeeze

That was my favourite Julia Donaldson book when my 18 year old was a toddler.

It's also how filling in some of the beige was feeling this week,  so I abandoned it in favour of more blue.  Am starting to feel a need to be 'done' with many of my projects at the minute,  and this is no exception.  So near and yet quite far away.

BFF SAL 16 -Feeling Blue again

More blue tonight, 519 around the boat and completing the right hand water.  And then a mixture of 827 half stitches in single and double strands.   I did try to do both together but found it too slow, tonight I separated for a much nicer experience.  Lots of sky to go, but it feels like a productive evening.

BFF SAL 16 - P all over

Lots of 519 this week (or the symbol P). Literally stitched only a single colour, sometimes you get your eye in for a particular bit.  The outlines of the boat are just starting to make themselves felt now.

You will see from my BFF's update here how it's going to look, as that particular one is quite well filled.   I do think it's been interesting to watch these grow.

Excuse the shadow in picture, I was working on low battery but determined to take the photo anyway while I remembered!

BFF SAL 16 - located but invisible

Yippee,  I purchased some 762!.. Yippee,  I finished off the unfinished stitches and worked a little on another project with it too!

Can I see the evidence of it? Nah, not really, cos it's 762 on white and therefore almost invisible.  Ah well!

Had fun filling in some beige and a slip of blue.  Check out my BFFs update here to see the comparison.

BFF SAL 16 - the spirit of perversity

It's been an odd week.  Having had a day off with time to stitch, I actually did less than planned because I really wanted to fill in 762, but do I have it? No. And the same for this pattern.   But tonight I did lots of random bits,  and felt like it was a productive night, even if I was denied the one colour I was waiting for.

I'm enjoying this one but will also be looking forward to being past some of It's challenges, like the sky in 2 different variations of the same thread for half stitches.

BFF SAL 16 - get the roofers in

YAY! Today I remembered that I bought the missing 3778 before our holidays.  So tonight my houses have roofs (rooves? Which is the correct plural?) We were discussing the weirdness of languages as we oft do, as both of us are learning foreign languages via Duolingo.

It's odd how much better I feel just having fixed the holes in the house roofing!

There was much discovery of further missing shades which will require shopping at the weekend.

BFF SAL 16 - All over the place

Title describes well the Stitching tonight,  a bit here, a bit there, and another but over here.  With the overall feeling like I'd not really moved forwards particularly well.

It is also a description of my weird mood swings this last couple of weeks.  Menopause woes are taking over my body and I'm just annoying myself at the minute let alone anyone else.  My poor BFF probably didn't get the best of company today.

But we shared some time and stitches which was good to get to do.

BFF SAL 16 - In Absentia

For goodness sake, how is it possible to buy thread and lose it before even starting to use it??  3778 and I think 819 are off somewhere on a merry jaunt and preventing me using them for another week.

Did a steady plod with some of the sea blue and a teeny bit of brown. But we were both a bit on the pooped side,  we've decided that as ladies of a certain age and responsibilities level,  there are insufficient hours in the day for sufficient sleep as well as everything else on our ToDo List (metaphorically speaking as we can't find the real ones LOL).

BFF SAL 16 - Piling on the Blues

Filling in water (and oddly house which looks grey on pattern print, but definitely states blue thread). There was a little additional pink but mostly a Blue Day today.

Enjoying this pattern, as my BFF has a different plan for how the finished image will look to my own, there may be some divergence as she catches up, either with off camera work for her, or with off-SAL work for me.

Conversation turned to the oddness of YouTube content and my own foibles around childish acts being paraded in front of the world... but hey it takes all kinds to make a world, and I'm sure that there are plenty would find my own set of hobbies odd too. So I shall step down from my virtual soapbox LOL.

BFF SAL 16 - in the Pink

More substance to the houses, with walls and windows. Mostly pink, which feels a slightly odd choice, but not odd enough that I can be bothered to change it.

Liking how it's coming along though.

BFF SAL 16 - Green and the Space Between

I'm enjoying this pattern,  it's starting to show the shapes of the picture even with only some outlines.

Conversation this week was varied, from Lego to dental appointments, and about the way we often like to fill the space with easy conversation topics so that we don't have to think so much about the harder stuff in life.  And that is very often what we do, whilst knowing without a doubt that the hard stuff exists,  but providing the easier space we both need.

My BFF did not think my description of the building picture from her progress was appropriate for blogging... but it made us giggle anyway!!

BFF SAL 16 - Got the Blues

Well certainly a couple of them at least this week.   Filling in quite nicely.   Everything seems to have nice "jumping off points" on this project.

BFF SAL 16 Thread-he-went-a-walking

A hum.  Actually that makes me giggle as that green is very Kermit the Frog.  But no frogs in this one.  And a little early to guess from the shapes.

Why the post title? Humph... another thread that I would swear to owning, but cannot locate.  You just know it's going to turn up as soon as I purchase a new skein! I think it's gone for a walk somewhere!!

I did quite enjoy my part of the stitch,  but feel like the overall plan may be changed as we go slowly along, as it is both bigger and more complex than our eyes first suggested. We shall see.

BFF SAL 15, let the circle be unbroken

Yay, finished!!

It's a pretty little stitch,  not decided on how it will end up so for now I will take the win as a finish.

BFF SAL 15 Behind again!

Arhh so near but ran out of oomph and time to finish. I will post again later this week when I do so. Looking forward to the next project soon.

BFF SAL 15 - nearly almost nearly

Well there's now some part of every piece on here.I have half a rose to cross stitch and a mountain of backstitch to go.

Given that I still have about 10 minutes off-camera time left, I agree with my BFF in that we'll probably finish next week.   As long as I remember to sort out our patterns, then we will have a something new for number 16 ready to go.

BFF SAL 15 - Rebel Without a Cause

We're enjoying this little piece,  but it's definitely taking longer than I anticipated,  I think because of the bitty nature, or the spread between sections of the colours.  By that,  I mean that there's more stopping to change colours as I go along.

I even chose to do some of the backstitch as I go,  funny how that always makes me feel something of a rebel!!

BFF SAL 15 - what colour is that grey?

The excitement of starting a new project is often tempered by that initial thread sort stage, particularly with a lot of similar colours.  The pattern calls for 4 purples, and 5 greens.  And there are just 9 shades there. So... before counting all that properly...what was the grey over there?  Very light green apparently LOL!!

A small project to last just a few weeks we think, and give us time to prepare for BFF SAL 16.

BFF SAL 14 - can you believe it?

Firstly that we've been working on our 14th BFF SAL.. and secondly that it's DONE!!

We talked a lot tonight about how amazing it is that we can find so many things to stitch jointly,  most of them from the same patterns.  And how our approach is still often The Same But Different.

Loads of backstitch completed,  and now to decide on a frame for any FFO.

I've really enjoyed this stitch,  and will definitely do more from the same book.  And we finished just nicely as the enthusiasm was beginning to wane for me at the end of the project (which is often the case for me).

Looking forward to a small stitch next time for BFF SAL 15, before our next Project, which I remembered during the week.
